no going back

Posted on Dec 5th, 2008 by victoria : B* R* E* A* T* H* E, you are Alive! victoria

No, no, there is no going back.
Less and less you are
that possibility you were.
More and more you have become
those lives and deaths
that have belonged to you.
You have become a sort of grave
containing much that was
and is no more in time, beloved
then, now, and always.
And so you have become a sort of tree
standing over a grave.
Now more than ever you can be
generous toward each day
that comes, young, to disappear
forever, and yet remain
unaging in the mind.
Every day you have less reason
not to give yourself away.

Obama's New Energy Chief

Posted on Dec 15th, 2008 by victoria : B* R* E* A* T* H* E, you are Alive! victoria

Make sure President-elect Obama's new Energy Chief knows we are counting on her to steer us toward
a clean energy future.

We've got the roadmap.

Tell Carol Browner to support the Apollo Recovery Act.

Today, President-elect Obama named Carol Browner as our nation's first Energy Chief.

As a long-time advocate for responsible environmental and energy policy, Browner is well respected for her work building public-private partnerships. She has also spoken publicly about the need for green jobs as a vital part of energy independence.

Decisions Browner makes in the coming weeks could affect our energy policy for generations to come. Can we get off oil once and for all? Will communities get the green jobs they need?

We've got to make sure Browner knows thousands of people are counting on her to prevail over Big Oil's powerful lobby. So in the coming days, we'll flood her office with a chorus of supportive voices pushing for clean energy and good jobs.

Send a welcome note to America's first Energy Chief – tell her to make the Apollo Economic Recovery Act her first priority

At this time in our nation's history, the job of Energy Chief couldn't be more important. Though President-elect Obama's ideas for energy reform echo the Apollo Alliance's plan, Browner will need our massive support to negotiate the right path for America's future – one that will create five million new jobs and end our dependence on oil.

Our first test is coming soon: can we mobilize the support she needs to get Congress to use the upcoming economic recovery package to make a down payment on that future?

Your voice could mean the difference between 'Drill, Baby, Drill' and 'Jobs, Baby, Jobs.'

Carol Browner has a strong track record of working with businesses and reaching across the aisle, but she's already facing resistance from Big Oil. Their lobbyists and corporate CEOs have gotten their way for too long. That's got to end, and we can help her stay strong.

Visible grassroots pressure will be critical to helping Browner carry out President-elect Obama's vision. That's especially true in this tight economy, where new investments in clean energy technologies could fall by the wayside if we don't make our support loud and clear.

Make sure our new Energy Chief knows you support the Apollo Economic Recovery Act for clean energy and good jobs.

The commitment of thousands of Americans can help get this country back on track. Thanks for your voice and your support.

Sincerely,

Phil Angelides
Chairman
The Apollo Alliance

What was the last experience that took your breath away?

Posted on Dec 17th, 2008 by victoria : B* R* E* A* T* H* E, you are Alive! victoria
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 17, 2008:

Nirvana

All is abolished but the mute Alone.
The mind from thought released, the heart from grief,
Grow inexistent now beyond belief;
There is no I, no Nature, known-unknown.
The city, a shadow picture without tone,
Floats, quivers unreal; forms without relief
Flow, a cinema's vacant shapes; like a reef
Foundering in shoreless gulfs the world is done.

Only the illimitable Permanent
Is here.. A Peace stupendous, featureless, still.
Replaces all, - what once was I, in It
A silent unnamed emptiness content
Either to fade in the Unknowable
Or thrill with the luminous seas of the Infinite.

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 18, 2008:

I am most happy & grateful for being endowed with free will to choose happiness in every moment. Each time that realization jumps ups & hits me in the face with the total force of it's inherent meaning for us ALL. . . .  all I can do is laugh & dance  :-D

Please call me by my true name

Posted on Dec 23rd, 2008 by victoria : B* R* E* A* T* H* E, you are Alive! victoria
Please call me by my true name

Do not say that I'll depart tomorrow
because even today I still arrive.

Look deeply: I arrive in every second
to be a bud on a spring branch,
to be a tiny bird, with wings still fragile,
learning to sing in my new nest,
to be a caterpillar in the heart of a flower,
to be a jewel hiding itself in a stone.

I still arrive, in order to laugh and to cry,
in order to fear and to hope.
The rhythm of my heart is the birth and
death of all that are alive.

I am the mayfly metamorphosing on the surface of the river,
and I am the bird which, when spring comes, arrives in time
to eat the mayfly.

I am the frog swimming happily in the clear pond,
and I am also the grass-snake who, approaching in silence,
feeds itself on the frog.

I am the child in Uganda, all skin and bones,
my legs as thin as bamboo sticks,
and I am the arms merchant, selling deadly weapons to
Uganda.

I am the twelve-year-old girl, refugee on a small boat,
who throws herself into the ocean after being raped by a sea
pirate,
and I am the pirate, my heart not yet capable of seeing and
loving.

I am a member of the politburo, with plenty of power in my
hands,
and I am the man who has to pay his "debt of blood" to, my
people,
dying slowly in a forced labor camp.

My joy is like spring, so warm it makes flowers bloom in all
walks of life.
My pain if like a river of tears, so full it fills the four oceans.

Please call me by my true names,
so I can hear all my cries and laughs at once,
so I can see that my joy and pain are one.

Please call me by my true names,
so I can wake up,
and so the door of my heart can be left open,
the door of compassion.
